Cuan Korsten and the Elliott Paterson Band @ Mugg & Bean Music Night.

The following is a review written by a close friend of mine. (I didn’t even have to pay her). Thanks Tammy :)

Cuan Korsten and the Elliott Paterson Band @ Mugg & Bean Music Night - by Tamara Smith

I have known Cuan Korsten for going on 12 years now. To say music is his passion is an understatement. He is a very talented singer/songwriter/guitarist who has put in the time and you can definitley hear his progress. Having heard Cuan perform numerous times before, I am still struck by the sincerity and honesty with which he sings. One can hear the the feeling permeating through his music. Joining him on vocals and guitar are Malianna Madden and Elliott Paterson, both singer/songwriters from the UK. Mali will keep you transfixed with her spellbinding contradiction of sweet, yet moody songs, delivered with her soulful voice.

What a privilege I feel it is to see Elliott perform. A musician who I hope will continue to amaze us for a long time to come with his range of very catchy melodies about love, life and everything in-between. When a shy 2 year old girl went up to the stage, on her own accord to give Elliott a hug between songs, it showed how clearly the audience had been captivated by his music.

A young and impressive David Vermeulen joined in on electric guitar with the exceptionally talented Paul Gibbings on electric bass/double bass and Jonno Sweetman on drums (Paul and Jonno being from the “Offshore” jazz trio).

This is definitely the finest quality original music I have heard for some time.

I feel the Mugg & Bean Music Night is a fantastic initiative and offers immense encouragement for the local music scene. Please support this event. With the big cities stealing the limelight, it is amazing to see how much talent we have right here on our doorstep.
